Hair Transplantation
Beard Transplant with DHI & Sapphire FUE
A beard transplant can restore or increase hair density in areas that are naturally sparse, asymmetrical or affected by scars. Natural results depend heavily on graft selection, beard-line design and the angle and direction in which each follicle is implanted.
At Dr Ahmet Demir Clinic, DHI is preferred in many beard cases where precise angle control is particularly important, while Sapphire FUE may be useful for selected larger areas.
What Is a Beard Transplant?
Follicular units are harvested from a suitable donor area, most commonly the scalp, and transplanted into the beard region.
Donor selection depends on hair calibre, texture, colour and the area requiring restoration.
Who May Benefit?
Men with congenital sparse beard growth.
Patients with patchy density or asymmetry.
Selected stable scars from surgery, burns or trauma.
Patients seeking reshaping or greater density where donor capacity is adequate.
Important: Active Alopecia Areata
Active alopecia areata is not routinely treated simply by transplanting hair into the affected area.
The condition should first be assessed and stabilised medically before transplantation is considered.
DHI Beard Transplant
DHI allows grafts to be implanted with an implanter pen without a separate channel-opening stage.
This can be advantageous for reproducing the very shallow angles required on the cheeks, jawline and moustache-beard transition.
Sapphire FUE Beard Transplant
In Sapphire FUE, recipient channels are created first and grafts are placed afterwards.
This may be practical for wider areas or higher graft requirements in selected patients.
Graft Selection and Numbers
Single-hair grafts are particularly important at beard borders and transition zones.
The number of grafts depends on the size of the area, existing beard density and desired shape; fixed online numbers are only rough guides.
Recovery and Growth
Small crusts and temporary redness are expected in the early period.
Some transplanted hairs may shed during the first weeks. New growth develops progressively over the following months.
